FAQ

My pet has never stayed in a boarding kennels before, will he/she be alright?
Surprisingly, to most owners, new boarders get used to their new routine very quickly. During their first stay, we will watch all newcomers carefully to ensure they are at ease.

Does my pet need to be vaccinated?
Yes, all animals boarding at the kennels must have an up to date vaccination certificate which we ask you to bring each time you bring your pet to the kennels. We also recommend your dog is covered for kennel cough and regularly treated for fleas, ticks and worms.

We recommend that your cat is also regularly treated for fleas, ticks and worms.

Do you take aggressive dogs or bitches on heat?
Yes, but such dogs will be kept in an isolated kennels, but will have just as much attention and exercise as other residents.

Can you cater for giant dogs or groups of dogs?
Yes, we have 3 different sizes of kennels including extra large kennels. We can take families of dogs that will be housed together.

Can you cater for groups of cats?
Yes, we will house cats from the same home together. Unfortunately, cats and dogs from the same house can not be boarded together.

How often will my dog be exercised?
Your dog will have access to outdoor runs regularly throughout the day as well as being walked twice a day.

My pet  is on a special diet/medication, is that a problem?
We are all trained in animal first aid at the kennels and we are happy to accommodate any cat or dog, and treat pets that are on medication. Individual diets are catered for.

Can I come round and look at the kennels and cattery?
Inspections are welcome but please try and call beforehand to let us know when to expect you, any questions are welcome.

What happens if my pet falls ill during its stay with you?
We do our upmost to maintain the health of your pet when staying with us, but in the event of your pet falling ill we will consult with your own vet for immediate veterinary attention.

Will my pet be safe at Mabie Forest Kennels?
Both the boarding kennels and cattery have double security gates that remain locked. There is attendance on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and entry into the kennels and cattery is only allowed with a member of staff.
